A lifelong fan of the American Songbook, Rhys draws his inspiration from the big band sounds of the Rat Pack, Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Dean Martin and most recently Michael Bublé. With a wide ranging taste in music and a comprehensive repertoire, he has introduced classic songs from across the decades in order to appeal to all sections of any particular audience. Rhys James
Rhys is an experienced singer and actor and has performed in a variety of roles over the past 30 years. He first caught the bug as a 14 year old when he appeared on the Gaiety Theatre Dublin in the National final of a Musical and Drama variety competition and went on to study voice in the Leinster School of Music. After this he went through a phase of singing in rock bands, performing cover versions of hits from various artists.
After a brief stint in the USA he resumed his passion for Musical Theatre and has performed many roles with various societies around Dublin, some of which include "Oklahoma" (Will Parker), "Joseph and His Technicolor Dreamcoat" (Pharoah), "Jesus Christ Superstar" (Pontius Pilate). A long time member of the Rathmines and Rathgar Musical Society, he is no stranger to the Gaiety Theatre and National Concert Hall, performing many times with them in their bi-annual productions, ranging from productions like "The Pirates of Penzance" to "My Fair Lady", "South Pacific" amongst others.
He appeared in the Irish Premiere of "Evita" coming runners up in the Best Show category at the AIMS Waterford Festival. Theatre credits include Oscar Wilde's "The Importance of being Earnest". Other credits include the RTE Proms and The Late Late Show.
Most recently, He was the lead vocalist in the hugely successful 12 piece swing band "Midnight Swing" in which he performed and entertained at hundreds of wedding and corporate events the length and breadth of the UK and Ireland.
A highly experienced front man and vocalist, he will ensure that every event he performs at is delivered with style and in a professional manner.
